Question

John 3054795999

I'm interested in your micrometric key machine. I have 25 old cars and need a machine to cut duplicate keys. Will this do the job? Is the motor ok since I'm not sure where you would find a new motor.

Answer

Hi John 3054795999

The Micrometric key machine that we had was sold sometime ago.

As to you question, In my opinion, and it is only my opinion, this type of machine works well as a portable key machine, you can take with you to make a few copies in an emergency. However, if I were cutting keys on a regular bases, even in small amounts, I would try to step up a grade or two, to a more permanent key machine. I think in the long run, you would be glad you did.

The motor and belt used for this machine, are the same as the older sewing machines, and may be found at your local sewing and vacuum machine repair shops.

Question
How do I change the belt on this machine?
Answer

If you are referring to the Micrometric Precision key machine, we are not sure. We surmise that you would need to remove the nut holding the cutting wheel, loosen the pulley wheel, and slide the shaft out to remove the belt. If anyone has remove the belt on one of these before, leave us instruction, and we will post it on our answer page.

Question
I own a Micro key machine and need to find a supplier of the rubber belt. Can you advise?
Answer
Thank you for your inquiry. The round rubber belt used on some of the smaller machines were the same belts used on the old vacuum and sewing machines. Try your local vacuum and sewing machine outlets that stocks repair parts. Also, try your local heating and air conditioning, or small appliance part stores.

The following company should have them in stock: Foley - Belsaw Company 6301 Equitable Road Box 419593 Kansas City, MO 64141-6593 1-800-821-3452 Fax: 1-715-426-2198 info@foley-belsaw.com
